14th Annual Tybee Island Polar Bear Plunge 2014
January 1st, 2014
Join the annual Tybee event and take the plunge. On New Year’s Day at 12:00 noon, thousands will venture into the brisk Atlantic Ocean. Start off 2014 with the invigorating Annual Tybee Polar Plunge. Meet at the Tybee Pier and Pavilion to join the fun.

Celebrate Mardi Gras on Tybee Island as the parade rolls down Butler Avenue onto Tybrisa Street. The event includes the popular Masquerade Ball, Mardi Gras Parade and Mardi Gras Street Party (Tybee style). There will be live entertainment (which is free) and tons more. Tybee Irish Heritage Celebration Parade
March 15th 2014 – Scheduled Start Time 3:00 p.m.
Also called the Tybee St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Head on down to Tybee Island for the 12th Annual Irish Hetitage Parade, wear your green and join the fun. The parade begins at City Hall and proceeds down Butler Avenue to Tybrisa Street.
Tybee Island Wine Festival

Tybee Island Orange Crush 2014

Annual Turtle Trot – 5k Beach Run
April 26, 2014 – Saturday @ 8:00 am
This is a fundraiser to support Tybee Island’s Sea Turtle Project, and a kick-off for the Sea Turtle nesting season in Coastal Georgia. Non-members registration $25, Science Center members $20. The event will be held at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center next to the Tybee Pier. Visit the Turtle Trot Website.
SCAD Sand Art Festival

Great fun! The annual SCAD festival features competitions using sand and beach objects as art. Categories include:

- Sand Sculptures
- Sand Relief
- Wind Sculpture
The festival runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 2nd 2014 on North Beach.

EVP Tour Pro-AM Beach Volleyball

EVP is once again bringing their EVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour to Tybee. The tournament will be held south of the Tybee Island Pier on 16th Street and Strand. This is a must see event! Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade 2014

This is the kick off for summer on Tybee. The annual tradition features a parade and a giant water fight. The Parade is usually held in the middle of May. Spectators line up along Butler Avenue, (the parade route) armed with hoses, squirt guns and water weapons. The event is FREE; everyone is welcome but be prepared to Get Wet!!! Tybee Island Tour of Homes

This year’s Tour of Homes will be held on Saturday June 7th from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m., rain or shine. The tour benefits Tybee Island Maritime Academy, The Fresh Air Home and The Rising TYdes Community Food Pantry. Ticket are $45.00 the day of the tour or $40.00 in advance (tickets are checked at each home). The ticket price includes lunch which is served between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Tybee Island Maritime Academy. There will be 9 homes on this year’s tour. July 3rd Independence Day Fireworks

Tybee’s celebration of America’s birthday. This is one of the busiest days of the year for Tybee. The celebration features a brilliant fireworks display in the evening. The show begins at dark (about 9:15 p.m.). The fireworks are staged from the pier, but can easily be seen from any of Tybee’s eastern beaches. Stay on the island for this celebration and walk to the beach to see the display. The event is free and is open to the public.
Tybee Floatilla “Will Float For History”
Grab an inner tube and float down the rivers of Tybee. “Will Float For History” is a benefit for Tybee POST Theater, Save our Rails to Trails and Tybee Historical Society. The event starts at 12:00 p.m. sharp, at Alley 3 on the Back River beach. The cost is only $30.00. For details visit TybeeFloatilla.com.
Labor Day Art Show and Sale
August -September 2014
Going to be in Tybee for Labor Day? Visit the Tybee Art Association and see the Labor Day Art Fest! The event runs from August 30 through September 1st and starts with an artists’ reception Friday, Aug. 30th, 6-9 p.m. The event continues Saturday, Aug. 31st, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 1st, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show is located (near the Lighthouse) at the Tybee Arts Association Building #7 Cedarwood Dr.
Labor Day Beach Bash
Plan to attend the 6th Annual Labor Day Beach Bash, to celebrate the end of summer. This year’s free live entertainment is featuring the Swingin’ Medallions and will begin at 7 p.m. Enjoy the music and fireworks (the fireworks will begin about 9:15 p.m.). Oceanfront entertainment from Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion. The event is free and is open to the public! You are welcome to bring chairs and coolers to the beach, however, they are not permitted under the pavilion for the concert.
Tybee Island Sea Kayak Races (16th Annual)
This year’s sea kayaking race is a benefit for Tybee’s Marine Science Center. The race will be held at A-J’s Dockside, and is open to the public. Sign-in is between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m.This year’s event will include three races:
- “Tybee River Race” – A 6 ½ mile river race. The race begins at 8:30 a.m.
- “Little Tybee Challenge” - A 8 mile race. The race begins at 8:45 a.m.
- “Race Across the River” for Gold & Platinum Sponsors. The race begins at 11:00 a.m.

7th Annual Bicycle Poker Run
The Joyce Anderson Poker Run takes you around the island and has you stopping at several spots to draw a card for your poker hand. Winners are the highest hand, the lowest hand and luck of the draw. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Accomplices. Donate to a good cause and get in on the prizes and fun. Registration is at Doc’s Bar from 12 to 2 and there is a $25 donation per player. Walk or run a 5K course at theTybee Island Pier! Enjoy music, food, kids’ activities and awards. Choose a timed race, run for fun, or enjoy the family-friendly walk. The event is to raise awareness and support for the fight against pancreatic cancer. The event will take place at the Tybee Island Pier (Butler Ave and Atlantic Ave).

- Opening Ceremonies: 2:00 p.m.

Tybee for the Holidays

Come to Tybee Island to celebrate the holiday season. It’s a month long celebration from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. The island will be filled with events, and activities which can be enjoyed by everyone!
- Community Decorating Day – Meet at the Pavilion at Memorial Park and pick-up decorations for 5 special areas on Tybee. Meet at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park, November 30th, 2014. Everyone is welcome.
- Lights on for Tybee – Holiday Lights, Dancing, Shopping, Music and Dining. This event will be held on December 6th, 2014 starting at 6:30 p.m. There will be the traditional tree lighting by the Mayor at the Roundabout, performances by the Gretchen Greene School of Dance and the choirs will be singing.
- Tybee Island Christmas Parade – The parade begins December 7th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. It will begin at the 14th Street parking lot (behind Ocean Plaza) and will travel up Tybrisa to Butler Avenue, and end at the Tybee Gym (children will be able to get a picture with Santa!
- New Year’s Eve Fireworks Celebration – December 31st, 2014, 12:00 a.m., end the year with a fantastic fireworks display that are set off from the Pier and Pavilion.
- Annual Tybee Island Polar Bear Plunge – Start your year off with an icy plunge into the Atlantic.
