Are you planning a destination wedding? Whether your planning a small private wedding or a grand affair with friends and family, Tybee Island Weddings are unique, affordable and a wonderful way to begin your life together. Tybee has become known as an ideal location for a destination wedding. Beautiful weather, fantastic beaches and a laid back southern charm, you can have your wedding and honeymoon together, practically any season of year.
Some people enjoy planning every detail of their wedding day; while others prefer to eliminate the stress and have someone else make their wedding arrangements. Regardless of your preference we have provided some resources to help plan your special day.
First, you’ll need to decide where on Tybee you would like to be married. Naturally, the beach is the common choice of many, but Tybee also has a dedicated wedding chapel. Tybee Island Wedding Chapel resembles an early 20th century, all-wooden seaside church. This is a non-denominational chapel which can be used for the wedding service or converted into a reception area following your beach wedding. The chapel also provides a bridal room, balcony and other common areas which are good for receptions or rehearsal dinners.
Next, if you’re having a larger wedding you need to purchase a beach permit. Although the beaches on Tybee are public, it doesn’t mean you can take over the beach for a private party without notifying local authorities. A quick, small, service on the beach is fine, but for a larger wedding (where you may be putting up archways and setting rows of chairs), you need to check with the city of Tybee first, which means purchasing a permit. Before planning a large event on the beach, check with the city for current rules and regulations.
When you’re on the island we can help; use our Tybee Island Hotels Guide for accommodations, Tybee Island Restaurants Guide for places to eat and our Tybee Island Attractions Guide for things to do and see.
